Kathleen Berry-Hebert's Bio:
Kathleen Berry-Hebert, M.A., LSSP NCSP. Kathleen Berry-Hebert received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University at Northridge. She then received her Masters in Psychology at the University of Houston Clear-Lake. Her Masters' thesis was published in a world renowned science journal called Nature. Her thesis provided further evidence that Neuropeptide FF (NPFF) plays a role in opiate tolerance.
After receiving her Masters, Kathleen Berry-Hebert worked as a project coordinator for the MRI Study of Normal Brain Development in Children at the University of Houston, Texas. This was an international, multisite, longitudinal, developmental study of normal brain growth and development in children ages 5-18. Functional MRI, behavioral, educational testing and psychiatric assessment was collected over a seven year period to establish a normal brain growth baseline. Kathleen and her fellow co-workers were able to successfully reach their goal; they accumulated the data and now are able to provide a comprehensive database or normal child brain development for clinicians and scientists.
Following her research and work, Kahtleen Berry-Hebert was a crisis counselor at the Department of Health and Hospitals in South Louisiana. She provided counseling for residents that were mentally and emotionally affected by the turmoil and trauma of Hurricanes Ika, Gustav, Rita, and Katrina.
Today, Kathleen provides guidance to students in grades K-12. She conducts psycho-educational evaluations and behavioral plans for students in preschool, elementary school, all the way through high school. Kathleen spends most time with students who are educationally challenged or educationally gifted. She consults with administrators, teachers, parents, and the rest of the staff about the student to come up with a plan that is best catered to the proper growth and development of the student.
Kathleen Berry-Hebert is a devotee to her work aiding children specifically in their education. Throughout her career as a psychologist, Kathleen has taken an interest in clinical nutrition. She is particularly fascinated by the affect of nutrition on mental states in addition to physical states. In addition to healthcare, Kathleen also enjoys reading a good book, theater, art, classical music, jazz, and water sports.
